For a week of watching tributes to the King of Comedy, Dolphy, I could not help but shed tears. Who wouldn't be so sad about his demise? As I listened to stories of people recalling how Dolphy had been so kind to them, I began to admire Dolphy because he is an epitome of kindness, charity, and real joy. Everyone who gave him tribute fondly recalled how Dolphy had touched their lives through his love and kindness.
Looking back, as a kid, I remember watching his comedy films and his sitcoms on TV. After dinner, everyone in the family would sit on a couch with our eyes glued on the TV screen, watching "John and Marsha," and later on "Home Along the Riles." It made our day complete laughing boisterously as Dolphy finished his punchlines with gusto. He was so cool that when he delivered his punchlines, it was so effortless but so funny that everyone in our family would laugh together.
No one could really contest Dolphy's brilliance and wits when it comes to comedy. Truly, Dolphy's legacy in the Philippine film industry would live on. We will forever remember him not only as a true artist but also as a philantropist.
